The Brazilian (American) nut is the fruit of a large bertolette tree, reaching 45 m in height. The trunk diameter is 1.5–2 m. The tree's life span is 1000 years. Brazil nut grows in the forests of Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, Brazil, Venezuela, Guiana. Interestingly, to obtain a harvest, Bertolethia is not specially grown: the fruits are collected exclusively from wild trees. Botanically, the American walnut is referred to as a grain. One adult tree can harvest 100-200 kg of fruit per year.
The Brazil nut tastes like pine nuts or hazelnuts, but it is more bland. It is the largest, nutritious and delicious fruit among the other known nuts. It is consumed fresh or fried, added to pastries and salads. Valuable nut oil is extracted from it.

Brazil nuts are high-calorie foods. Nutritionists recommend limiting the consumption of two nuts per day, and overweight people completely refuse it
